STD Engines Return
Spyke Inc announces the acquisition of all assets including intellectual property, inventory, machinery, tooling and molds of STD Development, a 30 year old American manufacturer of aftermarket engine components for American made V-twin motorcycles. All of the original tooling, CNC machining centers and inventory has been relocated to the Spyke complex in Downey, California.
Production has already begun on the popular pan/shovel cylinder heads and STD replica cylinder heads. Engine cases and inner primaries are undergoing a final design review prior to "making chips" and will soon be followed by heads, engine cases and primary components for later style engines.
The initial releases of pan/shovel heads and STD replica heads are available as raw castings, fully machined castings, and fully assembled heads with various upgrades to valves, springs and cylinder head porting. The heads are available with spigot style or three bolt exhaust ports, inside or outside oiling and are supplied to match the customer's cylinder bore requirements. Optional show quality polished finish in the ports, chambers and outer surfaces make these heads works of art.

Harley-Davidson Investor Investigation Over Takeover Rumors
PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 07, 2011
After a media report said that Harley-Davidson, Inc. might be taken over, an investigation on behalf of investors of Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HOG) over possible breaches of fiduciary duties was announced.
If you are a current investor in Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE HOG) shares, and/or have any information relating the investigation, you have certain options and you should contact the Shareholders Foundation at mail@shareholdersfoundation.com or call +1(858) 779 - 1554.
The investigation by a law firm is at a preliminary stage and monitors the takeover rumors. It concerns whether Harley-Davidson Inc, certain of its officers and directors, and/or others breach their fiduciary duties owed to Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) investors in connection with the takeover rumors or in the event of a takeover.
Following a media report concerning a potential buyout of the motorcycle manufacture shares of Harley Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) rose from a close of $35.87 on Friday June 3, 2011 to $37.78 on Monday.
However, Harley Davidson has performed well for its investors in the past. Harley-Davidson was able to invested its annual Total Revenue from $4.781billion in 2009 to $4.859billion in 2010. Its Net Income rose from a Net Loss of $55.12million in 2009 to a Net Income of $146.54million in 2010. For the first quarter in 2011 Harley-Davidson, Inc. reported a quarterly Revenue of $1.224billion compared to a quarterly Revenue of $1.207billion for the first quarter in 2010. Harley-Davidson reported a quarterly Net Income of $119.26million for the first quarter in 2011 compared to a quarterly Net Income of $33.33million in 2010.
Additionally NYSE: HOG shares rose from as low as $8.33 in March 09 to as high as as $43.11 per shares in February 201, respectively as high as $42.49 per share in the end of March.
Therefore the investigation by a law firm questions whether a potential sale process and the potential price would be unfair to the shareholders of Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG). The investigation focuses whether the Harley-Davidson board of directors will undertake an adequate and fair sales process to obtain fair consideration for all shareholders of Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HOG) and will breach their fiduciary duties to Harley Davidson, Inc. (HOG) shareholder by failing to adequately shop the Company before entering into any transaction. In addition the investigation seeks also to determine if any officer, director or any insiders violated any laws in connection with the takeover rumors. The investigation concerns also whether the acquirer would underpay for NYSE:HOG shares, thus unlawfully harming Harley-Davidson (NYSE HOG) investors. A potential class action lawsuit would seek to maximize the amount of money and information NYSE HOG shareholders would receive in a buyout, so the law firm.
Those who are current investors in Harley-Davidson, Inc. (Public, NYSE:HOG) common shares, and/or have any information relating the investigation, have certain options and should contact the Shareholders Foundation at mail@shareholdersfoundation.com or call +1(858) 779 - 1554.

Introducing: The Hoverbike
Australian Chris Malloy has been developing every boy's dream, a flying motorcycle. While it hasn't actually flown yet, the motorcycle has been tested while tethered to the ground and the inventor claims that it is very stable so far. It uses twin propeller blades for thrust and is controlled much like a conventional motorcycle, push down on the right handlebar to go right, left to go left. To achieve lift off twist the right throttle just as on a bike. Twisting the left throttle forward makes it go forward, twisting it back makes it go backward.
Powered by an 1170cc air cooled flat twin, the frame of the bike is constructed of carbon fiber with Kevlar reinforcement. The range isexpected to be 148km at 80knts cruising speed.
The Hoverbike is equipped with two explosive parachutes, and the rider also wears an emergency chute.
Still in the testing phase, the bike is expected to sell for $45,000 +/-$5,000 (AUS) for the first 100 units, the price is expected to drop to the range of a performance motorcycle at 1,00 units.
The uses the inventor expects the vehicle to be used for include ranching, search and rescue, surveying, film, military and emergency services.

Hoka Hey Winner Donates Half Million Dollar Motorcycle
Will Barclay (standing) Marc Story (sitting on his new bike) |
Will Barclay, Winner of the 2010 Hoka Hey Challenge, has given away the motorcycle that won him the half million dollar purse, the beloved Electra Glide (named Excalibur) that brought him to victory. He handed the keys to Mark Story, the 2nd place Hoka Hey rider at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee on June 3rd.
“Mark is a serious contender," Will stated, “he called me and said Hoka Hey was in his blood and asked if I had any sponsors that may help out. As a native Australian he just couldn’t shoulder the burden of getting his bike to the U.S., so I gave him Excalibur, my winning Hoka Hey Electra Glide to ride in Hoka Hey 2011 so he can now compete in Hoka Hey.” Barclay is also competing again this year and preparing his new steed, a 2011 Street Glide, for this year's challenge. This year’s Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge will run through all 48 contiguous states, into Canada and end in Nova Scotia and is sponsored by Harley-Davidson.

ESCONDIDO, CA –Talk about one-stop shopping! Two of the powersports industry’s most successful online outfits have teamed up so that job seekers can now go to SprocketList.com to check out classified ads for motorcycles, ATVs or accessories AND find a job courtesy of MotorcycleIndustryJobs.com. Best of all, it is always free to post a classified or search for a job.
“Think of it as a virtual Sunday paper, only better,” suggests MIJ founder Alex Baylon. “You have your classified ads combined with the ‘help wanted’ section… but you don’t have to wait for it to arrive once a week since it is live 24/7.” Further expanding the reach is a series of strategic partnerships with leading websites ranging from Bikernet.com and CycleNews.com to MXSports.com and RacerX.com. “For your convenience, we feed our jobs directly onto some of the highest traffic websites in the powersports industry,” adds Alex.
Coming off its seventh annual online job fair, Alex notes www.motorcycleindustryjobs.com traffic set record highs. “But we are always looking for ways we can enhance the experience,” he claims. “Joining forces with SprocketList seems to be a real win-win for everyone.”
“Alex has been a true pioneer in the job listings arena,” acknowledges Joe Tripp, the former Executive Director of Digital Operations at SPEED Channel and now president of SprocketList.com. “His successful online efforts are a natural fit for SprocketList.”
Launched this past September, SprocketList.com provides private label classifieds for industry associations including the AMA and NOHVCC as well as behind the scenes classified support for sites such as ThrottleHand.com and RoadRacingWorld.com as well as under their own name. J&P Cycles Open House
ANAMOSA, Iowa – The 32nd Annual J&P Cycles Open House, scheduled for June 25-26, 2011 is going to be a kicking, raging event. Last year’s event saw more than 20,000 attendees, and each year, J&P Cycles strives to go above and beyond the previous year’s event. And 2011 will be no different, as there are many great events, guests and activities planned.
For 2011, Extreme Obstacle Rider, Geoff Aaron, will entertain the crowd performing trials. Aaron is a 10-time AMA Trials Champion with more than 73 career National wins. In addition, see the Daytona Harley-Davidson Drill Team and ILL Conduct Motorcycle Stunt Show.
A dyno drag will be on site and check out the unveiling of the S&S and J&P Cycles X-Wedge Motorcycle, plus more than 80 of the top motorcycle manufacturers showcasing their latest wares. Plus, there will be more, as complete details are being finalized almost daily.
Visitors will save big throughout the weekend on J&P Cycles’ enormous inventory of motorcycle parts and accessories. Most products in the showroom will be 10 percent off (15 percent for Gold Club members) and a portion of the one-acre warehouse will be devoted to drastically reduced clearance items (up to 50 percent off).
The J&P Cycles Showroom Semi will be on hand, displaying some of the coolest products around, and you can win over $5,000 in door prizes. Plus, donate for a chance to win the National Motorcycle Museum’s one-of-a-kind 1947 Replica Knucklehead. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the National Motorcycle Museum.
Two bike shows will be held – one on Saturday, June 25 for all makes and models. Registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. or the first 50 bikes, and on Sunday, June 26 another bike show will be held for antique/vintage bikes and retro bobbers. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. or the first 50 bikes. The entry fee for both shows is $15 for each bike. Awards for both shows will be at 3 p.m. Classes include: Class Awards, Sponsor’s Choice, Judge’s Choice and Best Paint.
The J&P Cycles annual Open House event grows each year and we expect this year to be no different!
The J&P Cycles Open House started out as a small Customer Appreciation Day held by owners John and Jill Parham to thank their customers for their business throughout the year. Now, as the world’s largest aftermarket retailer of motorcycle parts and accessories, including for Harley-Davidson parts, Cruiser, Gold Wing and Sport Bike motorcycle parts, this event has turned into a two-day event and outside of Sturgis is one of the only places to see this many motorcycle manufacturers in one area in the Midwest.
Make your plans now to attend and check out this year’s event. You will be glad you did! Be sure to check the J&P Cycles site for updates, as new event details are added.

Motorcycle Sales Showing Signs Of Picking Up After Two-Year Slump
By Laura Emerson
Las Vegas Review Journal
Posted: Jun. 7, 2011 | 2:01 a.m.
Motorcycle sales have been on the skids for some time, but things may be looking up. If the first quarter of 2011 is any indication, Las Vegas streets may soon echo with the sound of screaming eagles as more riders take to two wheels to beat rising commute costs or just for the joy of it.
In 2009, 655,000 motorcycles were sold nationwide, a drastic fall from the previous six years, during which more than 1 million cycles annually moved off lots. In 2010, though, the numbers dropped even more when annual sales fell to 440,000 nationwide.

Americade Motorcycle Rally - June 6-11, 2011
Americade is June 6-11. It's a big touring rally held the first full week of June each year in Lake George, NY. This year the headquarters has been moved from Roaring Brook Ranch to the Fort William Henry Resort, overlooking Lake George, on the hill above the Beach Road Parking Lot where Americade's daily MiniTours assemble. It's a little late to find a place to stay for the whole week but day trips can be fun too. This is the 29th annual Americade rally and probably the best organized family oriented rally you'll ever find.

Students Build Biodiesel Chopper
By Greg Amos—Lancaster Online
It wasn't the typical garage-built chopper.
As Lt. Governor Jim Cawley took a lap around the parking lot on the largest student-built biodiesel motorcycle ever fabricated in the country, many spectators commented that they could smell French fries instead of the usual smoky exhaust that comes from any kind of combustion engine.
From the engine to the dual tanks (one for engine oil, one for biodiesel fuel) down to the paint job, nothing about this motorcycle was typical. Nor was it meant to be.
Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in partnership with Worley & Obetz Inc. of Manheim unveiled the 1900cc biofuel motorcycle built around a 2002 refurbished Volkswagen Jetta engine May 25 in front of the Willow Street campus.
